The Advanced Placement Statistics course is structured towards students developing their own understanding of the concepts and techniques of statistics using proper vocabulary of statistics rather than time consuming calculations. This course is taught with an activity-based approach where students will learn to apply formal statistical techniques and deliver conclusions or interpretations in a format suitable for discussion and analysis. Students will construct their own understanding of the principles and practices of statistics extensively using graphing calculators, spreadsheets, and statistical software outputs. Each chapter in the main text has a section on calculator use to give students instruction and practice using the statistical capabilities of their calculators. Students will participate in various activities, Investigative Tasks, and Group Projects that will allow them to gain proficiency and accuracy. These activities will also aid students in developing proper communication of statistical concepts which will include written and verbal evidence of the methods, results, and interpretations of data for a given experiment to determine its validity.
